About Connect
Connect is a Supported Employment Service. Our aim is to increase the employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities in Swindon. We believe that everyone has the right to equal opportunities, particularly in employment. A job can bring respect as well as material, social and personal benefits.
Connect’s Training and Employment Scheme is available to people who have a learning disability, aged between 18 and 60, unemployed, available for training and wanting to work.
Program Overview
Each person will be introduced to a Job Coach who will support him or her on a one to one basis throughout their training with Connect. Each individual will receive a tailored package of the following work related skills in order to take them further along the pathway to employment:

- Vocational Profiling
- Job Advice and Guidance
- Work Induction Package
- Personal Development Planning
- Work Experience/Job Trials
- Help with Basic Skills
- Job Search Assistance
- One to One Job Coaching
At all stages the Job Coach will liase with parents, carers and employers to ensure a quality service. The duration of support provided can vary according to the needs of the individual and the employer.
As the individual becomes confident and competent in the work place, the Job Coach gradually fades until the person is able to work independently. The Job Coach remains available to the person and employer for regular work reviews.
With its unique approach, Connect achieves a high level of success in placing people with learning disabilities into open employment.
